Damn myths about Coronavirus
Introduction:
Coronavirus is not a new thing right now, it was discovered in 1960 but the effect is terrible at this time. Researchers have proclaimed that either of the two ways by which the devastating Coronavirus start spreading deeply inside China and then in the whole world:
- Due to the bats which may have infected the live chicken or any other animals in the city of Wuhan in China.
- Due to illegal trading/selling of pangolins (mammals of the order 'Pholidota').
Below are the common myths about Coronavirus which are being circulated widely in the world, especially in India:
Myth-1: Gargling with hot water and vinegar/salt will prevent Coronavirus:
This myth is widely being circulated through social media. It is useful for eliminating the common cold, but not this infectious disease.
WHO has proclaimed that gargling with hot water and vinegar/salt is completely a myth.
Following are the points which can help you identify any rumor:
- Before accepting any fact circulating through social media, you should search it on a browser from any verified site (Example: If it is about Coronavirus, you should definitely search it on WHO, CDC, etc site)
- Never forward/share any facts which are sent by your friend, family, colleague without analyzing it.
- If you find any rumor shared with you, quickly tell the sender about it and prevent further sharing.
Myth-2: Coronavirus is a biological-weapon
See, I cannot predict that it is a biological weapon, because for the following reasons:
- If it was to be a biological weapon, it must not have caused such a catastrophic case in China, where it is known to be originated.
- Let say it was not originated from China, but still, it has affected all the nations. The country where the Coronavirus is actually made must have researched deeply about it to prevent the outbreak in their own nation and to prevent their people from the Coronavirus by any means (vaccine, antibodies, etc).
- The media of a country is not telling a lie
- The government of a country is honest.
- The chart of infected and death rates is true.
Myth-3: Hanta-virus is a new form of Coronavirus
Hantavirus was discovered long years ago like around 1990. It spread through the wastes of rodents to any person and is rare.
Recently, a person died due to this virus in China during the global pandemic of Coronavirus in which many people panicked and thought that the situation is going to become worse.
Following are the points which should be noted:
- Whenever you discover any serious symptom, never think like it would be over by some time, and do not hesitate to visit a doctor.
- Taking medicine that isn't prescribed by the doctor may cause fatal. Only if you are very much aware of your symptoms and know very well about the medicine you could take medicine by yourself.
Myth-4: Taking Vitamin C prevents the attack of Coronavirus
There is no evidence proven by the CDC as well as WHO that Vitamin C prevents the attack of the Coronavirus. Though you should take essential nutrients.
Points are the same as that of myth-1.
Myth-5: Coronavirus is deadly
(Mortality rate: the number of deaths in a given area or period, or from a particular cause.)
The mortality rate of Coronavirus: 3.5% (According to WHO)
The mortality rate of common flu: Less than 1%
The mortality rate of Ebola: 50-90%
You can now conclude about how deadly is Coronavirus.
