-In 2020, Alibaba was worth around 580 billion USD in January and currently (27th, Nov), the worth of Alibaba is 746 billion USD. The highest worth of Alibaba was 831 billion USD in October of 2020. There are usually falls and rises in Alibaba like any other business.


Sudden rise in Alibaba's worth in 2020

Looking at the graph, the first sudden rise in its worth was 580 billion USD to 704 billion USD in June within 15 days. The difference is 124 billion USD. 

The second rise in the worth of Alibaba was noticed on the 20th of August when the worth rose from 696 billion USD to 788 billion USD on the 26th of August. Within 6 days, the rise was 92 billion USD. 

Sudden fall in Alibaba's worth in 2020

The first fall of Alibaba in 2020 was due to the pandemic when the worth dropped from 542 billion USD to 463 billion USD with some minor falls and rises. The worth fell by 79 billion USD within a month. 

The second fall was much more devastating. The worth this time dropped from 809 billion USD to 693 billion USD in November and within 12 days.

- In the initial month of 2015, the worth of Alibaba was around 230 billion USD while at the end of 2015 (December), the worth dropped to around 204 billion USD. 2015 was particularly a bad year for Alibaba in my view. The highest worth in 2015 was 240 billion on 5th January of 2015.

- In 2019, the worth of Alibaba in January was around 400 billion USD. In December, the worth rose to around 568 billion USD as well as it was the highest/peak worth of Alibaba in 2019. Alibaba was going good in 2018.

Sudden rise in Alibaba's worth in 2015-2019

2017 was particularly a year for Alibaba when it rapidly increases its worth. The worth rises from 234 billion USD to 473 billion USD with not many minor falls. 

Sudden fall in Alibaba's worth in 2015-2019

I have noticed two falls, one was not so sudden while the other was sudden to an extent. The first fall was reported in June of 2018 when the worth dropped down from 537 billion USD to 340 billion USD  in December of 2018 with some minor falls/rises. 

The second fall was a bit sudden and was reported in 2019, when the worth dropped from 507 billion USD in May to 400 billion USD in June (within a month. Actually it was less than 15 days) 


About Alibaba's worth

-The highest worth of Alibaba was 829.8 billion USD reported on the 12th of October, 2020.

-Alibaba didn't undergo any major fall in its worth like that of Alphabet Inc. 

- In 2018 and 2019, Alibaba got a major boost in its worth. 


Facts About Alibaba:

  1. Alibaba is the owner of Hema Supermarket Chain. It was launched in 2015. The per-unit sales of Hema supermarket are 4x of traditional markets. 
  2. Looking at the revenue part, Alibaba has a higher success rate than Amazon. Amazon has around 26% of revenue increase per year, whereas Alibaba has more than 50% growth rate every next year. 
  3. The success rate of Alibaba is so high that even SEC has started investing in Alibaba. 
  4. Alibaba is plagued with a lot of hackers. 
  5. Alibaba is dominating the market in China. 
  6. Jack Ma borrowed a sum of 60,000 USD to start his business. 
  7. Although Alibaba is based on technology stuff, the founder of Alibaba has very little expertise in the technology field.
